Mapusa police solve Nepali murder case, teenager from Guirim held

MAPUSA: The Mapusa police arrested a 19-year-old Karan Mahadev Shinde from Guirim for his alleged involvement in the murder of a Nepali national at Morod, Mapusa.

Nabin BK was found murdered opposite the Bodgeshwar Temple and his throat was slit with a sharp object, on Friday. The murder baffled cops.

The police then swung into action and obtained the CCTV footage of the scene of crime wherein the deceased was seen with a person on April 15, at 3 am, before he was murdered. 

From the basis of the footage, the police then launched a massive manhunt and pressed a dog squad into service and on Monday afternoon arrested Shinde from his residence at Guirim. 

He was thoroughly interrogated and confessed of his alleged involvement in the crime.

Police also recovered the blood-stained clothes of the accused worn during the commission of the crime.

During the custodial interrogation, the accused informed police that he and the victim were having drinks in the field that fateful morning and started quarrelling over a frivolous matter and in a fit of peevish vexation, he slit the throat of the deceased with a broken glass bottle.

The police have registered an FIR under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
