A local court has rejected the second bail applications of Safukul alias Sagikul and Raju B, both of whom were arrested by Mapusa police for their alleged involvement in a robbery at the residence of Dr. Ghanekar in Mapusa.
The accused are alleged to have assisted and harboured the Bangladeshi nationals involved in the robbery. Police investigations had earlier led to their arrest in connection with the case, following which they were remanded to judicial custody.
Sources said the court, while dismissing the fresh bail pleas, took note of the seriousness of the charges and the stage of the investigation. Both accused have recently been chargesheeted in the matter, strengthening the prosecution’s case.
The robbery case had created concern in the area, prompting a detailed investigation by Mapusa police. Further proceedings in the case are expected to continue as per due legal process.
