The Mapusa Sessions Court has rejected the bail plea of the prime accused, Fakir alias Prakash Chunchwad, linked to the Kamakshi Udapnov murder case. Porvorim police submitted a 600-page chargesheet before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, detailing the case. The chargesheet, filed on Friday, includes references to 51 witnesses and identifies Fakir alias Prakash Chunchwad along with Nirupadi Kaddakal as the accused parties in the case.
Kamakshi Udapnov’s murder case was registered on August 31, 2023 after she was allegedly murdered by her former boyfriend, Prakash Chunchwad and dumped her body at Amboli Ghat.
Kamakshi, originally from Karnataka, was residing at Porvorim and was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend a few hours after he had given a written undertaking to the Mapusa police that he would not interfere with her.
Following sharp differences, the girl had decided to end her relationship with Fakir.
Kamakshi was then reported missing from her Porvorim residence on August 30 and a missing case was registered. During investigation, the family suspected that she might have been abducted by her ex-boyfriend.
The motive of the crime was that the victim was in a relationship with the accused and the former had recently broken up with him. Infuriated by this, the accused committed the gruesome act.
