PANJIM: The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has unanimously decided to outsource garbage collection in all 20 wards, after a meeting convened by Chairperson Shubhangi Vaigankar .
Presently, the MMC has outsourced garbage collection of wards 1 to 10 while the garbage of wards 11 to 20 is being collected by MMC staff. The Chairperson said that the municipality will soon call for tenders and complete the process in the next 60 days and outsource the waste management of the entire city, through a (minimum) three- year contract.
