Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be the chief guest for the function, while Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza will be the guest of honour. Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Sandip Falari and Councillors will attend the function to be held near Shakuntala Statue, at the main gate of the municipal market, at 5.30 pm.
Speaking to media, Association President Ashish Shirodkar said, “Mapusa market is a second home for the merchants and vendors. But there are many problems which the market is still facing. Around Rs 75 crore goes to the govt coffers through different form of taxes on from the Mapusa market. But in last ten years, the only major infrastructure that came up here is the fish and vegetable market building.”
