Marcaim estate employing migrants: Locals

PONDA: Around 250 Marcaim locals under the banner Marcaim Nagrik Kruthi Sangh on Wednesday claimed that it has become difficult for them to get jobs despite several memorandums send to Goa Industrial Development Corporation.
At a meeting in Marcaim panchayat Hall, the locals questioned the government’s aim of setting up industrial estate in the area and who is benefitting from it.
The locals were furious that while they have sacrificed their village land to the industrialists, they are employing migrants at the cost of the locals. The number of educated unemployed youth is increasing at Marcaim as there are no jobs for the locals in the industries.
They said, “If these industries cannot provide jobs to the locals then why are they set up in our village.”
One furious villager pointed out that the government has set up the industrial estate for providing employment to the locals but today the sad part is that the locals are rejected for the jobs by the industrialists at Marcaim Industrial Estate while it is haven for migrants who are easily getting the jobs.
