“Since the last several years, the issue of slag dumping in Marcaim Industrial Estate has been brought to the notice of the departments concerned, but till date there is no response,” said Marcaim Sarpanch Shailendra Panjikar while addressing the Gram Sabha over the issue.
“There is concern over rising industrial pollution in the village. Now, I feel the time has come to agitate and if residents are supporting, then I will lead the agitation,” said Panjikar.

“Owners of rented premise will have to pay a minimum of Rs 1,000 per year and if the premises are unutilized, then the owner has to inform the panchayat for fee exemption. It was also decided to make compulsory to every rented premises a provision of a toilet and soak pit,” informed Panjikar.
