Mardol – Tensions ran high in Mardol as the local community questioned the delay in detaining the owner of the vehicle involved in the recent tragic accident. The Mardol Police Inspector faced inquiries from concerned citizens, while authorities disclosed that statements from the minor children present in the car had been obtained with the assistance of the Juvenile Justice Board. The owner, Meghna Sawardekar, was interrogated and her statement was recorded on Tuesday, prompting the Police Inspector to request additional time for her potential detention.
On Tuesday, enraged residents from Divar organized a march to the Mardol Police Station. Their demand: the immediate arrest of the woman they firmly believed was driving the Mercedes responsible for the devastating accident on Sunday night in Banastarim, claiming the lives of three innocent individuals. The protestors were adamant that this woman bore the responsibility for the tragic deaths.
The protesters, in a show of determination, set a deadline for the woman driver’s arrest – 12 noon – warning of escalating their agitation if their demand was not met.
Among their calls for justice, the locals insisted on a thorough examination of phone call records between the husband and wife subsequent to the accident. As the investigation unfolds, community members seek answers and accountability in a case that has gripped the town’s attention.
