PANJIM: The Margao Taxi Drivers and Owners Association on Monday filed a contempt petition in the High Court against former Director of Transport Nikhil Desai for failing to implement the court’s order directing to take action against yellow-black auto and bikes for illegal parking.
The order dated April 4, 2013 had directed director, post then held by Nikhil Desai, to take required legal action against yellow-black bike riders and yellow black auto drivers, who park vehicles at parking lot notified for yellow-black taxis outside Margao Railway Station. The order based on a petition filed by the association, directed the govt to take action under Sections 53, 54 and 86 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 against the violators.
