Margao church celebrates Holy Spirit feast

MARGAO: The feast of Holy Spirit Church, Margao was celebrated with traditional pomp, gaiety and religious fervour on Sunday.

MARGAO: The feast of Holy Spirit Church, Margao was celebrated with traditional pomp, gaiety and religious fervour on Sunday.
Thousands of devotees participated in the Eucharistic celebration since early Sunday morning.  Fr Henry Falcao, the in-charge of the Theological Formation of the lay faithful, based at the Pastoral Institute Pius X, Old Goa, was the main celebrant of the Feast Mass celebrated at 9.30 am.
In his homily, Fr Falcao said it is the duty of Christians to give hope to the society with the help of the Holy Spirit. He recalled the appeal made by Pope Francis to heal the wounds of society, saying “We Christians should help to heal a wounded society”.
Thousands of people visited the traditional fair known as Purmettachem festto make provisions for the rains. 
, people from far and wide descended at the fair to make purchases, particularly dry fish.
