MARGAO: Neither of the two cinema halls in Margao screened Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavat.
“Though there is nothing going to happen, but who wants to risk losing property for a minuscule amount of collection?” said the manager of Z-Square Cine Vishant.
Meanwhile, the general manager of Inox said, “Inox not screening Padmavat anywhere in Goa. It is a decision someone at the top has taken and we need to obey.” The Inox general manager spoke to Herald over the phone.
All the 17 screens of Z-Square across Goa have refrained from screening Padmavat. It was informed in the evening that hundreds of film buffs thronged the Inox at Margao with the hope of watching the movie, but had to leave the place disappointed.
Goan movie Producer Rajendra Talak had a different take on the situation. He said, “It is the decision of the Multiplexes association not to screen and no one can force them to screen the movie.” Talak said revealed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been his all time favourite for the sheer casting of his movies. “I will definitely watch Padmavat,” he added.
Meanwhile, a movie buff Sharad Kerkar said, “Bajirao Mastani and now Padmavat, both from Bhansali production have been in news for showing wrong historical facts which is unfair and I am not too keen on watching this movie given my experience with Bajirao.”
However, several angry reactions were seen on the Social media for not having the screening in Goa and people were all out blaming the Governments of Goa and India for the same.
