MARGAO: In a bid to ensure public safety during the monsoon season, the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has initiated emergency services for the first time. These services aim to handle emergency situations arising during the monsoon, said Damodar Shirodkar, the Chairperson of MMC.
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, speaking to reporters, said a 24-hour control room has been set up at the South District Collectorate Office, to oversee emergency operations for the entire Salcete taluka.
According to Chairperson Damodar Shirodkar, the emergency services will be operational with one team of municipal workers from 6 am to 2 pm, and another team from 2 pm to 10 pm. Each team comprises six workers, a supervisor, a driver, a vehicle, two tree cutters, shovels, picks, and other necessary equipment.
