MARGAO: In a special drive conducted by the Margao Municipal Council on Monday nearly hundred banners and hoardings of political parties were removed from jurisdiction of the civic body.
All these banners and hoardings were displayed without taking required permission. According to MMC Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes special team of civic body conducted drive against the banners and hoardings.
It is pertinent to note that one can witness several banners, posters and hoardings of political parties put up in and around the commercial town, which have no permission from the civic body. Many banners were also noticed creating traffic obstructions. The numbers of the banners are increasing as the Assembly elections are approaching.
“Whoever he may be, permission is a must to display the banners and hoardings in the jurisdiction of civic body. However, it has been noticed that many political parties and even few individuals have put up their banners on the government, besides private properties,” said CO.
He further said that the MMC on Monday seized nearly 100 banners and hoardings.
“The drive will continue in coming days and all the banners put up illegally in Margao and Fatorda will be removed,” he informed.
