At the lengthy meeting, many councillors took on task the Chairperson Lyndon Pereira with regard to the issues of workers, proposed GPS system to be installed to the municipal vehicles, sopo contract etc.

Pereira and Chief Officer Rohit Kadam brought to the notice of the councillors about the proposal from a company named Kautilya Re-Polymers Private Limited, interested in taking up the job of segregation and transportation of dry waste generated in the jurisdiction of the Municipality.

“The said company will bear all the costs including the installation of machinery and even engaging nearly 40 labourers, and the civic body will have to not spend a single rupee on any cost”, said the Chief Officer.

He also expressed his opinion that people of Margao will be able to get rid of the dry waste, if the company is allowed to function. Chairperson also supported the proposal.
