PANJIM: In a bid to provide exposure to its students internationally, Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Waseda University, Tokyo (Japan) for furthering academic, research and collaborative activities.
Vasant Hede, attached with the Internship and Placements/ Marketing cell of the College, stated that Waseda University is one of the largest universities in Japan with over 54,000 students.
“It has produced seven Prime Ministers of Japan and many outstanding CEOs of world renowned companies like Toshiba, Suzuki, Panasonic etc. The MOU provides for collaborative research and exchange of students and faculty for academic, research and social and cultural purposes,” he said in a press statement issued on Wednesday.
A unique feature of the MOU is an opportunity for a student to study two semesters for a full academic year at the host institution. The credits earned during this study period will be fully transferable to the home institution.
“This MOU is the culmination of an ongoing social and cultural exchange programme between the two institutions now in its fifth year of operation,” he said in the press release.
Chowgule College is the first college in Goa to have the distinction of entering into a direct collaboration with a university overseas of international standing. The college also has the highest NAAC rating amongst the colleges affiliated to Goa University.
