The Margao Court has denied bail to Anurag Rajawat, accused of the tragic deaths of his pregnant wife, Shivani, and her mother, Jaidevi Chauhan. Shivani and Jaidevi lost their lives in a mysterious explosion in Vasco. What was initially called a cylinder blast, was found to be a gas vapour cloud explosion on November 18.
However, it was on November 27 that Vasco Police broke the silence and agreed that it was vapour cloud accumulation that caused the fire. The police also acknowledged the fact that the knob of the stove was open when the Fire Fighters reached the house. Rajawat faces charges under sections 304 (a) and 302, emphasizing the severity of the dowry death and the alleged premeditated murder. Furthermore, the demand for money by Rajawat’s mother adds weight to the dowry harassment aspect, as corroborated by the victim’s brother.
