UP native held for theft
MARGAO: In connection with a theft case, Colva police arrested a 22-year-old native of Uttar Pradesh (UP), Ashish Tiwari, the roommate of the complainant, also a native of UP living in Varca. Colca police stated that they had registered an offence under section 380 of IPC upon the complaint of 22-year-old Santos Parriyar, resident of Pedda Varca. The complainant had stated that on Saturday, between 3 am to 7 am, the accused Tiwari, committed theft of one Micromax mobile worth Rs 9,000 and cash of Rs.1,700 and another Rs10,000, belonging to another room mate Shambhu, totally worth Rs  20,700. The accused was arrested and remanded to 3-day police custody. The stolen property was also recovered. 
Pedestrian hurt in Navelim accident  
MARGAO: In an accident that took place at Colmorod, Navelim, the Margao Town police have booked charges against Sinquetim resident Assumption D’Costa. Margao Town police registered offences under section 279 and 337 of IPC against Assumption, the lady rider of Jupiter scooter bearing registration No GA-08 AG-3237. Police stated that the lady rode her bike in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life while proceeding from Navelim towards Margao city, and when she reached at Colmorod, Navelim, she crashed into a 65-year-old pedestrian, Santosh Bale, thereby causing injuries to the Comba resident. 
Plaint of assault at Margao
MARGAO: A man was assaulted on his head with an iron rod near Gaylin restaurant in Margao late Saturday night. Margao Town police registered offences under section 341 and 324 of IPC against 55-year-old Sham Chari, a resident of Margao. Police stated that they had received a complaint from 57-year-old Agustino Lobo, resident of Kundchadkar Nagar, Fatorda, that late on Saturday night, near Gaylin bar & restaurant, Margao, the accused person Sham Chari, wrongfully restrained the complainant and further assaulted him on his head with an iron rod, thereby causing injuries. 
Orlim local succumbs at GMC
MARGAO: Colva police registered a case of unnatural death after 54-year-old Orlim resident, Ratan Patra expired at Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim. Colva police stated that they received a message from head constable Atamaram Shetgaonkar, CP Bambolim, informing that patient Ratan Patra, had  expired while undergoing treatment in ward 108, GMC Bambolim. Ratan had a fall at his residence and sustained severe injuries and was undergoing treatment at the GMC. Police stated that arrangements are made to conduct post mortem. Further investigation is in progress.
Another quack arrested in Margao
MARGAO: Close on the heels of the recent high profile arrest of a quack in Margao, Chinmay Biswas, age 47, who was running a clinic in Navelim without having the proper credentials of a medical practitioner, was arrested by Margao Town Police. The quack was arrested under charges of impersonation, cheating and under sections of the Goa Medical Practitioners Act. The accused Chinmay has been in Navelim since 1989. The police in their previous check and rounds had found the clinic and accordingly laid a trap and arrested him. This arrest comes against the backdrop of the Margao town Police Inspector C L Patil initiating an aggressive drive against the quacks.
8-year-old girl knocked down 
MARGAO: A motorcycle rider knocked down an eight-year-old girl from Navelim near Tulshi building, Nagmoddem, while she was crossing the road. The girl, a resident of Nagmoddem Navelim has suffered grievous injuries and is under treatment. Margao police have filed a case of rash and negligent driving under section 279 and 338 of IPC against Bhavala Kaliason Jahagir, the rider of the motorcycle. Further investigations are underway.  
No interim relief in bar incident
MARGAO: Additional District and Sessions Court judge rejected the anticipatory bail applications of four accused persons who had allegedly assaulted two persons with a glass bottle, slaps and punches at a bar in Cuncolim and committed theft of a gold chain. Pradeep Dhanawade of Ballimath, Balli had lodged a complaint against Sameer Naik, Gauresh Dumai, Rupesh Naik and Swapnil Dessai, all residents of Cuncolim, in which he had stated that the four assaulted Jerry Fernandes and Santosh Dodmani with a glass bottle thereby causing injuries to them. The accused also snatched a gold chain, cash of Rs 15,000 and a ring from Jerry Fernandes.
