Various programmes chalked out for the day

MARGAO: The Margao Dindi will be celebrated on November 2. The Hari Mandir Devasthan Committee has organised a host of programmes to mark the 108th Dindi celebrations.
Various programmes will be held on October 28 after the religious programmes at the temple. There will be five nationally acclaimed classical singers who will perform on the day of Dindi. 
The Hari Mandir Committee has also decided to speak to the art and culture minister on giving ‘State Festival’ status to Margao Dindi.
Meanwhile, Shree Dambabalem Ghodem Cultural Association on the occasion will organise an all Goa Dindi competition at Shree Dambab Chowk, near State Bank of India, Margao on November 2.  
Dindi Pathak competition will be held and cash prizes of Rs 31,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 will be awarded to the top five winners besides consolation prize of Rs 5,000 each will also be awarded. 
Special prizes of Rs 1000 each will be awarded for best Pakhwaz Vadak, best costume and best singer. 
The competition will start at 3 pm from Hari Mandir and will conclude at Shree Dambab Chowk.
In addition the association will also organise the 13th All Goa Akash Kandil, fruit and vegetable carving competition.
