MARGAO: Dr Shailesh Raiturkar, a well-known and trusted doctor from Margao died under suspicious circumstances at his residence on Friday.
Raiturkar, 58, complained of chest pain at 12.30 pm while in his hospital in Ravanfond. After receiving medication he was taken home.
At 3.30 pm, when his daughter received no response to her knock on the door she called the police and people and got the door opened. Dr Raiturkar was found lying in bed. He was rushed to Hospico Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The post mortem was on till late night at GMC.
Margao PI C L Patil said the doctor had taken an injection as part of treatment for his chest pain. Doctors who treated him said he had vomited several times during the treatment. Patil said prima facie there is no foul play but said the facts will be clear only after the post mortem.
Dr Raiturkar was a partner of Horizon Hospital in Pajifond and consulting doctor there. He had a hospital and a clinic in Margao. His daughter is also a doctor.
