In response to complaints filed against him by Colva local
and Sarpanch Xavier Fernandes regarding the mismanagement of garbage dump,
Chairperson Damodar Shirodkar of the Margao Municipal Council addressed the
issue head-on.
Shirodkar revealed that the MMC has been inundated with a
significant influx of mixed waste, comprising old furniture, coconut shells,
sanitary pads, hard plastic, and various other materials.
Highlighting the severity of the situation, Shirodkar
emphasized that the council lacks a dedicated space to properly dispose of this
diverse array of waste. The absence of a specific dumping area has posed a
significant challenge in effectively managing and disposing of the garbage
received by the MMC.
