MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council took strict action, joined by newly elected chairman Lyndon Pereira, against the illegal vendors selling goods on the roadside of the town and confiscate goods worth around Rs 20,000.
Earlier traders of New Market had strongly urged the MMC to take action against the vendors selling goods on the roadside or they be allowed to open the market.
Tuesday early morning MMC teams crack down on several vendors selling goods illegally in the municipal area, especially on the vendors doing business on the roadside.
MMC Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes said that they have attached nearly Rs 20,000 worth goods from the illegal vendors and will continue the drive hereafter.
“MMC team has taken action against nearly 15 vendors selling goods on the roadside and all theirs goods have been attached. The drive against such illegal activities will be continue in coming days”, he said.
