Margao Police arrest 3 burglars, recover Rs 2 lakh goods

Alert cops solve burglary within three hours of complaint

MARGAO: Margao Police have arrested three burglars and recovered stolen motors estimated to cost around Rs 2 lakh.

A complaint was filed by Ghanashayam Kakodkar on November 5 that unknown persons entered his “storeroom” M/s Ranganata Sinai Cacodcar situated in Virginkar Building, opposite MMC ground, Calconda-Margao, by breaking a window grill and decamped with two big motors of “Siemens Geared Motor of 2 HP, German Make, Blue Colour, three phase” and other small motors worth approximately Rs 1.99 lakh. 

An offence was registered under Section 454, 457, 380 of Indian Penal Code and the investigation of the case was taken up by Police Sub Inspector Stanley Gomes of Margao Town Police Station under the supervision of Police Inspector. Margao Town Police Station received reliable information from sources that one Sahil Patil and one Rupesh Saha, who are from the old station road area, were seen loitering near the storeroom/warehouse.

Accordingly, both the persons were picked up and brought to the police station. On being interrogated, both admitted they had robbed the motors from the Calconda “storeroom”.

Sahil Patil, aged 22 years, residing at old station road, Margao and native of Dadar village, Pen Taluka, Maharashtra and Rupesh Saha, aged 19 years, also residing at old station road, Margao, were placed under arrest.

Both the accused, Patil and Saha, led the police to the stolen goods which they had hidden in an isolated building near a hospital in the town.

They also disclosed the name of another person alias “JCB” as their accomplice in the burglary.

Accordingly, the said accomplice Sanath Devendra Kumar, aged 23 years, from old station road-Margao and native of Suratkal Mangaluru, Karnataka, was placed under arrest on November 6.

The case was detected within three hours of registration. PSI Stanley Gomes, Head Constables N Shamir, Dilkush Velip; Constables Goraknath Gawas, Vishal Prabhu, Kalpesh Kholkar, Prajoyt Velip, Vishal Prabhu, and Orlando Fernandes were part of the investigation and recovery under supervision of Margao Town Police Inspector Sachin S Narvekar, under the guidance of Sahil Sarangal, IPS, SDPO, Margao.
