The Margao Police apprehended an 18-year-old Nepali national, Himal Malla, on charges of alleged drug possession. The arrest follows an incident reported near the Holy Cross on the Ring Road, stretching from the railway station towards the Powerhouse Circle in Margao. According to police records, Malla was reportedly found in possession of 23 capsules containing a suspicious blackish-brown sticky substance. On December 8, 2023, Sameer Nilu Gaonkar, Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) at Margao Town Police Station, filed a formal complaint on behalf of the state. The complaint pertains to an incident that occurred between 22:31 hours on December 7, 2023, and 01:30 hours on December 8, 2023.

The 23 capsules contained a blackish-brown sticky substance, with each capsule meticulously wrapped in fine polythene paper.

The substance is suspected to be a controlled substance, with a total weight of 250 grams, and is estimated to have a market value of Rs 1.25 lakhs. The police complaint outlines the details of the alleged possession and raises concerns about the nature and potential illegal sale of the seized substance.

Margao Town Police Station has initiated an investigation into the matter, and legal proceedings are expected to follow as the case unfolds.
