MARGAO: A road in Margao is being dug for a sewage pipeline barely three months after it was tarred, even as the deputy collector claims his office has not given permission for the same. The road opposite Hari Mandir was tarred in June after spending lakhs of rupees, but it is now being dug up in two places. It’s the same case with a road near the Bata showroom. The roads may be in the town’s interiors, but they are still very important. The digging has caused massive traffic jams there during rush hours, and it continues despite the district magistrates order in May to stop such work.
“This road was tarred after years of trouble for commuters. Now someone comes and digs it again. Has the administration completely closed their eyes to the issues of the common man? The government also speaks of fund deficiency, but the acts of the bureaucracy and government agencies are highly contradictory,” said Rajneesh Prabhu, a commuter. The deputy collector had earlier mentioned that there were complaints about lack of coordination between departments.
