“Motorists and residents are facing immense hardships due to the disorganised work of building manholes on the national highway leading to Navelim, which is in progress. While the authorities have notified the closure and diversion of the road for the work, the condition of the ‘diversion road’ makes travelling a nightmare for commuters. In an attempt to avoid the diversion, vehicles enter from any side onto the one-way lane, making it dangerous for pedestrians and motorists, and leading to accidents,” said Savio Coutinho, SCM member and former chairperson of the Margao Municipal Council.
He continued, “Even those dependent on public transport are having a bad experience.”

“The Shadow Council demands that the authorities pay attention to the hardships faced by the public and ensure the immediate completion of the ongoing works,” added Coutinho.
