Margao: There will be three platforms and six railway tracks in the future The Konkan Railway Corporation as and when possible has been improving its track and facilities in Goa by laying extra tracks, constructing new platforms or even constructing new stations. Now Margao station is poised to get a totally new look.
Given the fact that rail traffic is ever increasing, the corporation is in the process of the constructing a new platform at Margao railway station and also laying a new track which means the Margao Railway Station will in future have three platforms and six railway tracks.
Setting a target of reducing the distance between two stations to 15 to 20 kms, KRC has constructed and commissioned a station at Loliem to reduce the distance between Canacona and Asnoti station in Karnataka. As KR had acquired land for double tracking, every year, it has been laying a second track wherever possible without much ado. At present Balli, Pernem, Thivim and Karmali railway stations have four tracks each while Loliem has three and Canacona is the only station having 2 lines.
