Margao traffic cell collects Rs 27.49 lakh in fines this year

MARGAO: The Traffic Cell Margao till the end of April this year, 2019,  booked a little over 1.90 lakhs cases of traffic law violations and collected Rs 27.49 lakhs as fines from offenders; against the Rs 28.09 lakhs collected from the 1.25 lakh cases booked during the same period last year in 2018.
A little over Rs 1 lakh was collected from 14,450 people booked for overspeeding. Rs 86,650 were collected from  600 persons booked for rash and negligent driving. 
Rs 62,600 was collected as fines from 3,700 persons booked for using a mobile while driving.
Police collected Rs 14,500 from 1,100 persons booked for carrying passengers in their cabin.
Rs 28,900 was collected from  1,600 persons booked for carrying excess pillion rider.
100 persons were booked for driving vehicles without proper lights and fined Rs 1,400 and  Rs 1,200 was collected from  12 persons booked for using dazzling lights. 
Rs 76,200 was collected from 28,000 cases booked for using tinted glasses.
Police collected Rs 7,200 from 100 cases of overtaking and Rs 900 from the 9 persons booked for lane cutting. 
5,700 persons were found driving without license and Rs 83,000  was collected from them as fines.
3,800 cases of driving without using seat belt were booked and Rs 66,600 was collected from them as fines.. 
Rs 34,800 was collected from 3,400 persons booked for driving without wearing uniform.
Rs 10,400 was collected from 1,800 persons under aged drivers booked an amount of Rs 43,00 was collected from 2000 persons booked for permitting a person without license to drive a vehicle.
Rs 1.48 lakhs was collected from the 8,600 cases of unauthorized parking booked.
 Rs 26,500 was collected from  1,700 cases booked for having no number plate and Rs 80,800 was collected from 5,100 cases booked for not having proper number plate.
Rs 22,200 was collected from  1000 persons booked for driving without rear mirror.
 Rs 19,600 was collected from 36 cases booked against people using vehicles without the PUC certificate.
