MARGAO: The much-awaited upgrade of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, has been set in motion as a team of concerned authorities conducted an inspection at the venue on Thursday. The Ravindra Bhavan is likely to serve as a joint venue for the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI), necessitating the need for improvements.
Recently, Rajendra Talak, Chairman of RBM stated that they have proposed to the government to designate this venue as a joint venue for IFFI, where several films will be screened for film lovers.
“In order to host the event, Ravindra Bhavan needs to be upgraded. After inspection, the concerned authorities will be preparing their reports which will include the cost, time for completion of upgradation works, and availability of the hall,” said Talak.
He further stated, “We don’t want to disturb the tiatr shows because of IFFI. And hence, we will work out the plans so that films are screened without creating any problems for the tiatr directors and tiatr lovers.”
The move comes after the venue, which is essential for tiatr artists and enthusiasts, faced criticism due to inadequate facilities, structural concerns, and poor sound systems.
Talak’s appointment has brought a new committee to Ravindra Bhavan, tasked with making the venue more public-friendly and revitalising its facilities.
Tiatr artists and enthusiasts have long complained about the condition of the venue.
The public and artists are hopeful for the transformation of Ravindra Bhavan, considering its potential role in IFFI and the opportunity to restore its former glory.
