The famous Banastarim Bazaar which is famous for its Chaturthi Matoi bazaar has been shifted to a new place near the Maruti temple, which is located at a five-minute walking distance from the existing old market.
This was revealed by the Bhoma Adkon Sarpanch Sunil Zalmi, and Panch member Vishwajeet Naik, who added that the Banastarim Matoli bazaar will be held this year on August 30 and 31. Elaborating further, they said the existing Portuguese-era Banastarim bazaar did not have enough space for vendors to conduct their business and hence had been demolished a few months ago for renovation work, which is currently underway. They added that the panchayat had got the approval from the national highway authority to hold the Matoli bazaar near the Maruti temple, temporarily for the two days mentioned. He added that there have been complaints from vendors about the exorbitant sopo fees charged by the contractor and that this time there would be clear direction from the panchayat not to overcharge the Matoli vendors and to collect fees as per the rates approved by the panchayat.
