PANJIM: Admitting that there are bound to be issues amongst alliance partners in the coalition government, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said that “everyone will toe the line of coalition when the time comes”.
The minister responding to media questions about MGP, an ally of BJP government, announcing it would field a candidate for the upcoming Assembly by-election in Shiroda, where the BJP already has its candidate.
Godinho said there are bound to be issues amongst the alliance partners in coalition government. “When you run a coalition government, problems are bound to happen”, he said adding that the coalition partners who are speaking against the government now will maintain silence at right time. “Everyone will toe the line of coalition when the time comes,” Godinho said.
The Minister said that in the current period where one cannot control the life partner, there is no question of controlling alliance partners. “There are so many cases where you cannot control your life partner, where you are talking of your political partner?” he said.
Godinho said the government will have to make extra efforts to solve the problems with alliance partners. “Since in Goa we are in the age of alliance, naturally we have to factor in everything, including wishes, opinions. You have to put in little more extra efforts to solve that,” he said.
Godinho said the BJP will win the Lok Sabha seats in Goa in the upcoming election on the agenda of development.
MGP has kicked off rebellion in the BJP led alliance by announcing that they would be fielding their president Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar in Shiroda. He has launched his election campaign. The seat fell vacant when Congress MLA Subhash Shirodkar resigned to join BJP in October last year.
