PANJIM: Twenty years later, former Chief Minister and current Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has termed Mauvin Godinho’s ‘power subsidy scam’ as an ‘attempt to scam’, which he says he blocked.
“There was an attempt (to commit) a scam, which I stopped and recovered Rs 63 crore to the State government treasury. Now the court will decided whether it was a scam or not,” Parrikar said.
“There were allegations 20 years back. I fought the case and got all recovery done for the government, so we did not allow any wrong doing. We fought the matter and recovered the money. There were some issues and I fought this matter in the Court and also in the Assembly and so as far as I am concerned the issue is over at that point when recovery was made by the State government,” he said, adding that now it is up to the court to decide.
Parrikar had earlier filed a case in the Supreme Court charging Godinho with corruption in a multi-core power subsidy scam.
