VALPOI: Around 50 villagers, including children, of Mauxi-Sattari, were treated for food poisoning at the Valpoi Hospital.
Four villagers have been kept under observation and the remaining were discharged after being treated. Shell fish is reportedly the cause of this food poisoning.
On Saturday evening Mauxi villagers suddenly started getting loose motions. Most of the villagers were rushed to the Valpoi Community Health Centre and the queue at the Casualty room increased as dusk was approaching.
According to Mauxi villagers a local fisherman visits their village regularly and had reportedly sold shell-fish which was consumed by the villagers on Saturday.
Some villagers alleged that the shell-fish was reportedly laced with formalin which caused the food-poisoning.
