BICHOLIM: The villagers from Mayem have strongly demanded government instruct ore transporting truckers to follow disciplinary measures while transporting ore through Mayem village from Poira mines.
Reportedly, on Friday, a driver of one of a ore transporting trucks allegedly knocked down one scooter rider Atmaram Naik in the village by proceeding in a wrong direction and injured him.
Following this incident, villagers gathered and blocked the ore transporting trucks. Later police were called to sort out the matter. However, villagers have claimed that police instead of supporting locals supported the truckers so they resorted to state government authorities.
