PANJIM: The third year MBBS student of Goa Medical College, who was arrested last weekend for attempting to rob a bank at knife point, resorted to crime to raise money for publishing his book.
In his bail application filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Panjim, Mayur Gupta, a native of Agra in Uttar Pradesh submitted through his counsel Galileo Teles that he needed funds to get his book published.
The police have objected to his bail application to subject him for test identification parade. To this, Adv Teles argued that identification was not a ground for rejecting the bail application and that Gupta was due for his practical exams. The student has passed the All India Pre-Medical Test on merit. The JMFC will pronounce its verdict on the bail plea on Tuesday.
