PANJIM: Congress on Friday alleged that the BJP-led government’s health insurance scheme – Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana – is yet another scam in the making.
“The health insurance scheme is nothing but another scam in the making. It is nothing but the way to make commerce and business out of sufferings of common man and at the cost of health sector,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Luizinho Faleiro told media persons.
Faleiro said no private hospitals would be able to accept the scheme and implement it. “The scheme is not going to benefit the common man. It is a business for the government,” he alleged.
Speaking on the dual citizenship issue, Faleiro said Congress opposes the Union Government’s decision to appoint an authority in Goa to resolve the issue.
“Why do we need an authority to resolve dual citizenship issue? What is the hidden agenda? All we need from the Central government is one and half line legislation in Parliament to put a cut-off date and protect the people who have registered their births in Portugal,” Faleiro stated.
The Congress leader said the State’s first generation, got their births registered in Portugal, a provision offered by the State’s former colonial rulers to those born before Goa’s liberation (1961) innocently without knowing of the repercussions.
