Medicines worth Rs 20 lakh gutted at Mapusa

Medicines worth Rs 20 lakh were destroyed, after a local pharmacy in Mapusa caught fire on Monday afternoon.
According to Mapusa police, the fire broke out due to short circuit in the storeroom of a pharmacy situated in Mapusa municipal market.
On receipt of the complaint, the Mapusa fire brigade rushed to the site and managed to bring the fire under control, before it could engulf the adjoining shops.
According to fire officials, they could reach the site immediately since it was an afternoon time and there was no much transport due to the daylong strike by public transporters in the city. Mapusa police is investigating the matter.
