CANACONA: The education department has convened a joint meeting with mid-day meal suppliers and local education authorities of Canacona taluka on Friday, in a bid to get another supplier to provide meals to over 2000 students who have been left stranded since June 28.
According to sources, the Canacona ADEI and all the mid-day meal suppliers in the taluka have been invited for a joint interaction with Education Director Anil Powar.
The education department is reportedly trying to strike a deal with the existing mid-day meals suppliers from the taluka, to distribute the task of serving meals to all 2000 students who are without mid-day meals, after Omkar Mahila Mandal (OMM) was suspended following the food poisoning incident last week. The education department reportedly made efforts to persuade the Ashta Self Help Group and Saurabhi Self Help Group, from the taluka ; however, the two self help groups are reported to have turned down the request.
