MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Committee (SGPDA) has decided to meet on Thursday to find ways and means to spruce up the PDA’s wholesale fish market and the retail market.
The PDA will also hold inspection of construction projects on the same day before approvals are granted for the high-rise buildings.
PDA Chairman Rajan Naik told Herald that the PDA sub-committee will sit and discuss the prevailing condition of the markets and suggested remedial measures. “The Committee will inspect the two markets to improve the hygiene and other conditions,” he added.
Complaints over the deteriorating condition of the SGPDA wholesale fish market and the retail market have hit an all-time high for want of general maintenance. Government’s promise to fund the maintenance of the wholesale fish market as per Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s budget speech has also not materialized till date.
Meanwhile, today’s SGPDA meeting saw Independent MLA Vijia Sardesai raising a host of issues relating to the commercial complex housing the PDA office.
