VASCO: To mark the centenary year of the Mormugao Municipal Council, the civic body will hold a mega festival tentatively between February 9 and 15.
As a part of the consultative process, the MMC on Monday held a meeting and formed various committees and Sub-Committees for the centenary celebration, which will be held throughout the year.
The panels include Publicity Committee, Entertainment Committee, Refreshment Committee, Funds Raising Committee, Publishing of Souvenir Committee, Felicitation Committee and Entertainment Programme Committee.
MMC chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar said he expects the support from various corporates in Vasco to make it a grand success.
“The initial celebration function will be for 8 days which will include entertainment programmes, inauguration of various development works in the town and other functions. It will be an all-year round celebration treat for the people of Vasco and Goa” Kritesh informed.
At the meeting, Vasco resident Savio Correia said, “The purpose of this celebration is to increase the unity and bonding among Vasco people and to show that we are one. It has to inculcate a sense of belonging among the youth to the town. That is the reason my submission has been that of involving school students for the celebration”.
Councillors requested the MMC to lay foundation for the important projects in the town which include parking plaza, municipal garden improvement and a large community hall.
