Mega plans to celebrate 60th Liberation Year in 2021

PANJIM: With the State stepping into the 60th year of Liberation on December 19, 2020, the government has chalked out mega plans for the celebration across the country.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced this at a media briefing at his official residence.

Sawant said that a celebration committee has been appointed with him as chairman, which comprises political leaders as well as artists. “To celebrate the 60th year, programmes will be held across the country,” he said.

He said the State has sought funds to the tune of Rs 100 crore from the Centre for conducting year-long programmes to celebrate the 60th year of the liberation of the State.

“Programmes showcasing rich cultural heritage of the State will be conducted within Goa and across the country all through the year commencing from Goa Liberation Day, Dec 19, 2020,” he added. 

Sawant also said that several top leaders would be invited to the State including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
