VALPOI: The agitation started by the villagers in Shel Melauli continued on Tuesday with the protesters warning of escalating the stir if the demands are not met.
The agitation was against the IIT project at Shel Melauli in Guleli Panchayat. With the intention of crushing the agitation, the government filed criminal cases against 40 protesters. The villagers demanded that the cases be withdrawn and the land allotted to the IIT project be returned to the locals with full ownership of the land.
The villagers had demanded a written reply in this regard by agreeing to these demands in the Gram Sabha of Guleli Panchayat. A memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Panchayat on December 9.
