Melauli villagers reject CM’s offer of compensation

The villagers of Melauli have rejected the CM’s offer of compensation saying they want nothing except scrapping of the project.

“We have placed our side and we do not agree with what the CM has conveyed to us. We have told the CM that our land must be transferred be to  our names,” the village leaders said.

Youth leader Shubham Shivolkar said, “The government wants to locate us somewhere else. We asked him why?” He said the replacement land is not feasible as it takes years for cultivating cashew plantations. “We have possession of land before liberation,” the villagers said.

The villagers said they are united and do not agree with the four-member committee. “CM should come to Melauli and hold a meeting now. They are telling us about profit but what about our losses,” the village leaders said.

The villagers also questioned the CM’s intentions as several of the villagers working in government departments have been transferred to faraway places as their kin were participating in anti-IIT agitation.
