PANJIM: Expelled MGP leader Lavu Mamledar has accused Dhavalikar brothers of issuing “indirect threats” to party’s office bearers over no confidence motion against the MGP President.

Mamledar addressed a press briefing in the capital on Friday to inform that the MGP members are being pressurised to withdraw the no confidence motion against Deepak Dhavalikar.

“There are indirect threats being issued to the party members to withdraw the no confidence motion. These members are being asked to file affidavits that they took the step under pressure,” Mamledar said referring to the Dhavalikar brothers.

The former police officer and ex-MLA also insisted that 27 members who moved the no confidence motion are not bogus. “Their signatures can be verified,” he added.

Mamledar has also written to the Election Commission that he still remains General Secretary of the party, although moves were made to expel him.

“I am technically the General Secretary of the party but I won’t go to the office until Deepak Dhavalikar is there, because the party will not grow under him,” he alleged.

The MGP members while moving no confidence motion against the President earlier this week had charged Deepak of occupying the chair without holding elections and general body meeting. Deepak, however, dismissed the move against him saying that there is no provision in the party constitution for moving the motion against the President.

To this, the Mamledar has said that although there is no provision, it is a practice in the party to move no confidence motion.
