MARGAO: Fast Track Court on Monday stayed the termination of membership of Rajani Gaonkar and Abhijit Dessai as panchayat members while not granting any stay on their removal as sarpanch and deputy sarpanch by the Director of Panchayats. Vide order dated February 21, 2019 Director of Panchayats Rajan Satardekar had removed Rajani and Abhijit as sarpanch and deputy sarpanch respectively of the Netravali panchayat following a complaint by Rakhi Naik of the Shiv Sena against the duo.
The Director of Panchayats while removing the duo as sarpanch and deputy sarpanch had also terminated their membership of the panchayat and the two had appealed against the said order.
They had asked for a stay on the order and their termination as members of the panchayat has been stayed while their removal as Sarpanch and deputy Sarpanch is not stayed.
