PANJIM: The Panjim police detained, Augustino Fernandes, 35 from Old Goa for allegedly breaking a cross near Grand Landscape Complex in the city.
According to the police, Pedrito Fernandes, President Confrarias Reunidas Da Igreja, Immaculate Church, Panjim, lodged a complaint stating that near Grand Landscape Complex in the city, unknown accused person wearing black colour T-shirt and pant desecrated a cross at around at 1.20 pm on March 21, the police said.
PSI Dipesh Shetkar told O Heraldo that as the accused was found to be mentally deranged.
, he was admitted to The Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), Bambolim.
An offence under section 295 A of IPC has been registered at Panjim Police Station and further investigation is underway, police said.
