Merces court building to be ready in three years

Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) on Thursday said that construction of the District and Session Court complex at Merces will be completed in three years.

PANJIM: Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) on Thursday said that construction of the District and Session Court complex at Merces will be completed in three years.
GSIDC Managing Director Srinet Kothwale submitted in the High Court that within a period of three years construction, including interior works, shall be completed so that the courts can start functioning in the complex immediately after April 1, 2021.
The Court directed GSIDC to file an affidavit setting out the assurance to complete the construction of the various stages and time limit for the respective stages. GSIDC is to submit the affidavit in the last week of June 2018 incorporating progress made in the construction till June 25, 2018.
North Goa District Advocates Association had petitioned the High Court pointing out that the land for construction of a new building to house the courts has been acquired but the building is yet to take shape.
