The Sessions Court at Merces has directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to register a First Information Report (FIR) against government officials and members of the Santa Cruz Village Panchayat in connection with the ongoing garbage management issue.
Following the court’s directive, the ACB has written to the Director of Panchayats seeking the mandatory sanction to prosecute the accused officials. However, the process has reportedly hit a delay.

Complainant Inacio Dominic Pereira stated that the reply from the Director of Panchayats is still awaited, a fact confirmed in the ACB’s official response. He questioned the delay in granting sanction, expressing concern that it could hamper the investigation and accountability in the case.
