PANJIM: A 23-year-old youth, Sahil Bhat, a resident of Merces, Tiswadi died in a fatal accident at Kadamba Plateau on the Old Goa-Panjim bypass on Thursday afternoon.
According to the police, around 3.30 in the afternoon a four-wheeler proceeding towards Panjim from Old Goa on the Old Goa-Panjim bypass road on reaching near the Sai Baba temple at Kadamba Plateau the driver lost control over the vehicle and dashed against the crash barriers on the left hand side of the road.
Due to the impact of the dash, the vehicle jumped over the crash barrier and landed on the middle of the road and later dashed against a mini bus proceeding towards Panjim.
In the accident, Sahil Bhat, the driver of the car received grievous injuries and was rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, where he was declared brought dead.
Old Goa Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of CrPC and further investigation is in progress under the supervision of LPSI Veronica Coutinho.
