PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday met Ports Minister Michael Lobo and Siolim MLA Vinod Paliencar, fuelling speculation in the political circles.
Dhavalikar and Lobo met in a city hotel and is learnt to have discussed political developments in the State ahead of the assembly elections.
After the meeting, Lobo said that it was a courtesy meeting and had nothing to do with the ensuing elections. “We are friends and I discussed political happenings in Bardez taluka and he discussed about Ponda taluka besides other matters,” he said.
On the other hand, Dhavalikar said that besides meeting Lobo, he also had a meeting with Goa Forward Party (GFP) Siolim MLA Vinod Paliencar and Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate. “It is only Chai Pe Charcha,” he quipped.
Dhavalikar is learnt to have also met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Goa desk in-charge Praful Patel, who was on a Goa visit on Thursday.
Dhavalikar said that till date MGP has not decided on having pre-poll alliance with any political party and has already finalised 12 candidates and are in the process of finalising another six candidates. He said that decision whether to have pre-poll alliance or to contest elections on its own strength will be taken by the party executive committee.
