PONDA: The MGP on Tuesday challenged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to dissolve the Assembly, hold fresh elections and win 27 seats for the BJP.
The MGP was reacting to Sawant’s “boasting” that the BJP government, with 27 MLAs, is strong and that the MGP supremo Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar should never dream of becoming, again, a minister in the BJP government. The chief minister reportedly made the “boast” during a campaign meeting at Dharbandora to canvas for the BJP candidates for the ensuing Zilla elections.

Hitting out at Sawant for his “boasting”, Sudin’s brother Deepak said that he would quit politics forever if the chief minister wins 27 Assembly seats for the BJP at the fresh elections.
Deepak reminded the chief minster that the BJP mustered the current strength of 27 MLAs only by engineering defection from the other parties, as such, he advised Sawant not to “boast” of majority in the Assembly.
Averring that the Damocles sword of disqualification was hanging over the heads of the 12 MLAs that BJP had stolen from other parties, Deepak warned the chief minister that the 12 MLAs may be disqualified anytime under the 10th Schedule of the Constitution, which would result in the collapse his government; hence the CM should be ready for fresh elections.
“They are robbing MLAs and calling it democracy. But this is violation of the Constitution. The BJP is setting a bad example for youth. But the general public in Goa is wise and will teach a lesson to the BJP in ZP election,” he said.
